Live Dictation lets you speak text directly into your active cursor position in any app (browser, email client, code editor, Slack, Discord) using global macOS shortcuts. Escribolt runs in the background and writes your transcripts in real time.
Shortcuts & Control Patterns
Configure these options in Settings > Shortcuts:
Press and hold the Fn key, speak your thoughts, and release to instantly transcribe at the cursor.
Press Fn + Space to start capturing audio, and press Fn to stop dictation. Useful for hands-free typing.
Re-insert your most recent transcription result without writing over your main system clipboard history.
Toggle the sticky Quick Note dictation panel globally from anywhere on macOS.
Instantly launch or stop long-session audio logging from the menu bar or keyboard.
How to Ensure Accurate Real-Time Dictation
- Provide Escribolt with macOS Input Monitoring permissions (see Permissions).
- Use Key Terms to bias transcription accuracy for custom acronyms or names (see AI Engine Settings).
- Select Streaming mode under Settings > AI Engine for immediate visual feedback.
